PLAYOFFS!!!!

Alright folks, it’s October. That means playoffs and we got a lot of games in a short amount of time already. Let’s dive straight in, shall we?
AL Wild Card Play-In
The Houston Astros (yes, you read that right) beat the New York Yankees 3-0 to advance. Astros pitcher Dallas Keuchel, pitching on 3 days rest, threw 6 shut out innings. Sipp, Harris and Gregerson each went 1 to complete the shutout. The Astros move on to face Kansas City.
NL Wild Card Play-In

Cubs vs Pirates. Yup. Cubs vs Pirates. The Pirates never really had a chance here. Arrieta was dominant in a complete game shutout. 9 innings. 11 K’s. 5 hits. 0 walks. 0 runs. Thanks for coming. Cubs head to take on division rival St. Louis.

Podcasts, Apologies and a Redstate Gathering

Hello my friends, it is I, your recently absent podcast host. I know it’s been a while and I wanted to give y’all an update on what’s been going on.

Due to personal stuff, work stuff, travel stuff and all kinds of other stuff, Alex and I just haven’t been able to get together and crank out a couple hours of swearing about whatever the news of the day is. Trust me, we’re not happy about it. We enjoy recording the episodes and the fact that we haven’t been able to do so in several weeks pleases neither of us.

I wanted to let y’all know that we’re still here, the podcast is still here and we’re going to be recording new episodes soon. In the meantime, I figured I’d give everyone my impressions of the Redstate Gathering in general and the candidates that spoke there in particular. If you’re interested, keep on reading.

Podcast/Upgrades/Etc

Morning folks, unfortunately there will not be a podcast again this week.

I’m still dealing with trying to get everything set up with the podcast. Apparently, when Stitcher says “You’ll hear back from us within 5 business days” what they mean is “You’ll hear back from us 5 business days from now”. Subtle difference, but a difference nonetheless.

In addition to that, I got hit with a really nasty stomach bug this weekend. Kind of hard to do a podcast when you’re running back and forth to the bathroom.

Now the good news, the next podcast should be full of good content. On Thursday I’m headed up to Atlanta for the RedState Gathering. Quite a few of the Republican Presidential candidates are slated to speak. (Walker, Fiorina, Jindal, Perry, Bush, Rubio, Huckabee, Cruz) Also speaking are Gov Nikki Haley, Jim DeMint from Heritage, Ed Morrissey and Mary Katherine Ham from Hot Air, Katie Pavlich and Guy Benson from Townhall, Bob Owens from Bearing Arms and a whole host of other people from Twitchy to AEI to the Foundation for Government Accountability to PJ Media to…..well, you get the point.

Lots of folks, lots of candidates, lots of content. I’m excited to see and hear the candidates in person. I think you get a far better measure of someone when you’re actually physically there, as opposed to watching them on tv.

Again, apologies on the lack of podcasts recently. The idea, the goal, is to come back better than before. Easier to access, easier to listen to and with loads of good content. Who knows….maybe we can even wrangle in a guest or two.

Podcast

FUCK iTUNES.

That is all.

Ok, that’s not all. iTunes decided it wanted to treat me like a bitch. After two days of that, I finally said forget it. I’ve submitted our podcast to Stitcher, which is the same service the HQ podcast uses. I should know in a couple days if we’ve been approved.

Podcast/Site Upgrades

So the Podcast is going to be a little delayed this week. Between some travel and changes to the site, yeah, not gonna be ready to post tomorrow morning.

The good news, you may have noticed from the url, is that AtC and I now have the domain. No more wordpress in the url. Makes it a little more manageable.

But what that really means is that I now, in theory of course, can upload the podcasts directly to the site. No more uploading and linking to another site. This should make it much much easier for you folks to listen to the podcast. And yes, if I can figure it out, this means that the Drift Compatible Podcast should be available via iTunes. I’ve had quite a few people ask me about that and it looks like that will finally become a reality.

Thank all of you so very much for listening and offering your support, advice, criticisms and questions. We hope that you continue to do so and that now it will be even easier.

PS – I’m planning on going back and replacing the links for the last few podcasts with the files directly uploaded to the site. I know more and more of you have had more and more problems accessing the podcast and hopefully you’ll now have an opportunity to listen to those episodes. So keep an eye out for that.

Drift Compatible Podcast

Sooo…yeah. Sorry. It was my anniversary. Plus church functions. Plus last night and tonight were the first two rounds of softball league tourney. Add to that the fact that we’re headed out of town on Thurs to head up to see my wife’s family, and a bunch of Morons, and yeah. Sorry.

Come hell or high water. Even if it’s later than normal. We. Will. Have. A. Podcast. Next Week.

Such is my word.

Let’s try a little something different. If you’ve got something you’d like to hear us talk about, leave the suggestion in the comments. No promises, at all, but I’m curious what you folks are listening to, thinking about, reading, etc.

Drift Compatible Podcast

Hello again.

I have unfortunate news. There is no podcast this week. But there’s a very good reason for that.

AtC’s mom, the Dowager Empress, had major knee surgery last week and Alex is staying with her parents’ to help out while her mom recovers.

eatcake

The Dowager Empress came through the surgery just fine, as we all would expect, and is at home recovering on pace. All our thoughts and prayers with her.

We talked about it and decided that Alex screaming obscenities into the microphone while in the same house as her parents just probably would be a bad idea. So, we took this week off.

We’ll be back rested, ready and pissed off next week.

Drift Compatible Podcast

There will be no new podcast this week. Due to the holiday weekend and late Good Friday services and Saturday Egg Hunts and Sunday morning church and way too much good food Sunday afternoon and all that other stuff, Alex and I decided to take the week off instead of trying to cram in a recording when we (mostly I) were already worn out.

So nothing this week, we’ll be back next Tuesday.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend celebrating our risen Savior and I hope the rest of your week is both productive and not too stressful.

Drift Compatible Podcast Episode 10

Well, this week was certainly an adventure in technology. Alex’ internet service was spotty and she dropped in and out several times. To top that off, the site I normally use to host the podcasts has apparently shit the bed.

But we soldier on!

Alex and I discuss Hillary, Iran, Ted Cruz and Neo-Prudism in 3rd Wave Feminism (Don’t worry, I didn’t know what that meant either. It’ll make sense when you hear it.)

Because we completely and utterly suck at this whole “time” thing, we actually made the decision to split the podcast into two parts. Part 1 has all of the politics/current event stuff. Part 2 is the book stuff.

Due to the previously mentioned bed shitting, the podcasts are hosted on a different site this week. Hopefully that doesn’t cause issues for you folks.

Part 1

Part 2

If you have any issues or if you need a direct download link, email me at bcochran1981 at gmail dot com.

As always, I hope you enjoy and thanks for listening!
