Drift Compatible Podcast #13

Back again.

You know, I used to listen to talk radio, to Rush or Hannity or the local/national sports talk guys and think “How the hell can they do that? How can they sit and talk for 3 or 4 hours? No way I could do that.”

Uh huh. And now here Alex and I are turning in roughly 2 hour podcasts. No commercials. No callers. No nothing. Just the two of us talking for 2 hours straight. *shakes head*

To start with, an apology. The quality of the audio…it just isn’t very good this week. It was all over the place while we were recording and any attempt I made after the fact didn’t much help. Sincerest apologies my friends. Hopefully next week will be better.

So what are we talking about this week? Well we start by continuing something I really like and that’s just talking about what’s happening personally. All too often we get caught up in the macro of our world and we forget about the micro. We forget about the personal. So AtC and I spend a bit of time just chatting. Then we get into the politics.

We really focused on just two topics this week: Rep Massey of Kentucky and Hillary. We, of course, expand from there, but they’re the starting points.

It’s stunning really. Alex and I are two, in our opinion, reasonably intelligent, successful and functioning adults and yet, we can’t keep track of our time. Both of us agreed that this week’s recording would have to be shorter because we didn’t have a ton of time.

So naturally the podcast went two hours. Amazing.

This week we spend a decent bit of time at the beginning just chatting about what’s going on in our lives, the good stuff, the fun stuff. From there we move into what we’ve kind of dubbed as the “Tyranny of Bureaucracy”, followed by brief laughter at Earth Day and then, of course, books.

Hope you folks are enjoying listening as much as we’re enjoying recording.

Drift Compatible Podcast

There will be no new podcast this week. Due to the holiday weekend and late Good Friday services and Saturday Egg Hunts and Sunday morning church and way too much good food Sunday afternoon and all that other stuff, Alex and I decided to take the week off instead of trying to cram in a recording when we (mostly I) were already worn out.

So nothing this week, we’ll be back next Tuesday.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend celebrating our risen Savior and I hope the rest of your week is both productive and not too stressful.

Drift Compatible Podcast Episode 10

Well, this week was certainly an adventure in technology. Alex’ internet service was spotty and she dropped in and out several times. To top that off, the site I normally use to host the podcasts has apparently shit the bed.

But we soldier on!

Alex and I discuss Hillary, Iran, Ted Cruz and Neo-Prudism in 3rd Wave Feminism (Don’t worry, I didn’t know what that meant either. It’ll make sense when you hear it.)

Because we completely and utterly suck at this whole “time” thing, we actually made the decision to split the podcast into two parts. Part 1 has all of the politics/current event stuff. Part 2 is the book stuff.

Due to the previously mentioned bed shitting, the podcasts are hosted on a different site this week. Hopefully that doesn’t cause issues for you folks.

Drift Compatible Podcast Episode 9

So. So….we set out with the idea of shortening up the Podcast.

We managed a whole 15 minutes.

But hey, we’re still having fun and hopefully you are too.

This time around we talked coffee, firing people, Greenpeace, the Dem bench, Obama failings and, of course, books.

(Near the end of the podcast, as we’re discussing books, we had a tech glitch that I didn’t even realize until hours after we were done. I was giving my opinion on Faith of the Fallen and boom, several minutes of audio disappeared.)

Books

Hounded by Kevin Hearne

Vespers – Jeff Rovin

Shadow and Bone – Leigh Bargudo

Faith of the Fallen – Terry Goodkind

Faith of the Fallen is the 6th book of the Sword of Truth series. That series lasted for 11 books. The stories of the lead characters continues on in another set. There are 3 books (sometimes referred to as 12, 13 and 14) in that series so far.

So, we failed. Utterly. Alex and I realized that the podcasts had been getting fairly lengthy, so we set out this week to curtail that…..and recorded the longest podcast so far.

*sigh*

I think Alex really is going to start setting a timer next week.

But as for this week, we talk Russia, Hillary’s flagrant lawlessness, Walker’s Ag Subsidy pandering, a new Crusade, reliance on govt, menstruating deer, Alex insulting me over my binary view of things, books and, of course, we wander about all over the place.

As always, hope you enjoy the content and thanks for sticking around.

Books

The Ghosts by Jonathon Moeller

Divergent Series by Veronica Roth

Valkyrie Rising by Ingrid Paulson

Delta of Venus by Anais Nin

Decipher by Stel Pavlou

The Love Letter by Cathleen Schine

Drift Compatible Podcast 7

We’re back again and cranking pretty good. We went pretty lengthy again, but I, go figure, think it’s well worth the listen.

Alex and I talk about Hillary’s email, a couple of specific examples of Men over Laws, a tease about Walker, NFL free agency and a couple books.

In case you don’t know..Language Warning.

Book List:

The Rook by Daniel O’Malley

The Last Policeman by Ben H Winters

Countdown City by Ben H Winters

World of Trouble by Ben H Winters

Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

Drift Compatible Podcast Episode #6

Hello my friends, we meet again.

We are back this week and holy crap were we chatty. This week’s podcast ended up going 1 hour 45 minutes. Sheesh.

But as always we had fun yelling about the stuff that pisses us off. We discussed legitimate grievances, soon to be President Elect Walker, our imperial presidency and a few books. We also wandered a bit (a lot) within those subjects.

Hope you enjoy!

Books

Children of the After #1: Awakening

The Federalist Papers

Plato

US Constitution

Dark Inside

Grave Mercy

Drift Compatible Podcast 5

So after a week off, Alex and I are back. This week we discuss rape, forced insurance on college campuses, reality denial and a quick discussion at the end on books.

Hope you enjoy it.
